New Year's Resolution

I resolve to be more productive in all aspects of my life.  Getting healthy mentally and physically is my main goal so that I will be able to focus on engaging in my responsibilities to myself, my family, and God.  This last year has been very hard in some ways and very rewarding in others.  My children and their families are back in SC, and I have been basking in the joy my grandchildren bring.  I am proud of my children and the responsible adults they have become.  My children-in-laws are more than I could have hoped for as spouses for my children and parents to my grandchildren.  Gratitude is given to a loving Heavenly Father for his plan of salvation and for Jesus's willingness to endure suffering for our sins, pains, and grief.  I truly know that God exists and that he did not leave us here alone.  There is so much I need to do to get back to in touch with the Holy Ghost so I will be able to make good decisions in the choices I will face in the future.  I do not want to do that without divine guidance.  I can say that I have had a great school year so far.  I am enjoying my work so much more this year.  Heavenly Father knows me because he has given me the blessing of well-behaved students so that I could get through this time with my health, and for that I am very grateful.  Happy New Year!

Christmas Break

It has begun!  So far I have done nothing but play with Ava.  I have gotten lights on the tree and the garland went on today.

Cleaning

I spent 6 hours cleaning today and only got the living room done.  Those wood floors sure do shine when mopped, though!  I can't believe my energy level was so low that I let it get that bad.  It's not that I am completely well, however, seeing as to how I slept in until 12 today.    I separated the children's books from the toys so the books have easy access (that's the teacher in me, I guess).  Oh, yeah, I finally hung the family picture up over the fireplace.  So I am feeling fairly accomplished, now on to the Room of Requirement!  Sorry, Candace, I know you hate that I name the rooms now.  The Gallery awaits your return!

Memory Sparked

Well, I was driving down Hwy 78 toward Summerville when I passed the Bizzie Bee, a little bar just past the I26 overpass.  The name of the bar reminded me that my mom used to own a restaurant and a couple bars with  catchy names around the Spruill Rd. area about 40 years old.  There is one memory that stands out the most beside my mom being behind the bar and that is when some of us girls were at the bar in the afternoon.  I saw this woman who had the most awesome beehive hairdo.  I told her how  she had such beautiful hair.  When she gave me a quarter, a lot of money for a 5 year old, one of my sisters tried to say the same thing but it didn't work.  I was the only one who got a quarter.  I know to some it may sound awful for little children to be in a bar, but it was before the shipyard day shift ended so there were only a couple of women in there at the time.  It never occured to me that there might be anything wrong with it.  We were never allowed there in the evenings, so we were never exposed to the male clientele.  I will post a picture of my mom in those days in a future post.  She was so beautiful and I am grateful for this memory.

Taking the challenge

Well, Candace changed her background and Samantha started blogging again, so here goes.  I have a wonderful family.  I am so proud of my children, their spouses, and their children.  I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for loving me.
